OARfans.com free email addresses!
Currently only available to OARfans.com registered users with 500 posts or more.
OARfans email accounts are provided to users via aliasing. All you need to get an OARfans email alias account is the email address you want (example@oarfans.com) and a real email address that it will be forwarded to (which no one will ever see)!
To use this new email alias, you take no further action except to tell your friends about your new email account. Your email will arrive in your current mailbox.
As previously mentioned, O.A.R. Message Board members with 500 or more posts are eligible to sign up for an email alias. You can choose the prefix, the "yourname" in yourname@oarfans.com. First come first serve rules apply. If the alias you choose is taken, we will let you know, and you will be asked to send another option. PLEASE NOTE: You can not sign up for an email alias that is the board name of another member, even if they have not signed up for the address.
Currently, assigning the email accounts is a manual process and will not be offered all the time. If the demand is there, we will install automation to make adding, updating, and deleting your email address more efficient. When the automation is complete it will be posted on the message board and linked to on this page.
To obtain your email address:
Send an email (from the account your new oarfans.com email account will be forwarded to) to email@oarfans.com which contains:
- Your board name
- Your desired email alias prefix. - for example, in yourname@oarfans.com, tell us what "yourname" should be. No inappropriate names will be accepted.
- Answer Yes or No as to whether you will allow us to place your email alias in our Email Directory.
Please note, THE EMAIL ADDRESS THAT YOU SEND THIS EMAIL FROM WILL BE THE EMAIL ADDRESS ASSIGNED TO YOUR ACCOUNT. This is to prevent abuse of the system and confirms your ownership of the account. Only send this email from the account to which you want your oarfans.com email forwarded.
Once we review your email, you will receive a confirmation email that indicates your new email alias. The alias will be in effect as long as you desire. Email email@oarfans.com to modify or discontinue you email alias. PLEASE PUT MODIFY OR DELETE IN THE SUBJECT FOR QUICKER RESPONSE TIME!

Email Alias FAQ
Can I send mail from my new email alias?
Yes! To send email so that the return address says yourname@oarfans.com, configure your email client software. Most email programs allow you to set your return address to whatever you like. This is not something we control on the server. Below you will find a list of popular email clients and where you need to configure your outgoing email address.
- Hotmail: Options -> Additional Options/Reply-Related Settings -> Reply-To Address box
- Yahoo Mail: Mail Options -> Personalization/General Preferences -> Reply to box
- Eudora: Tools -> Options -> Personal Info or Getting Started -> Return Address box.
- Netscape Mail: Options -> Mail and News Preferences -> Identity -> Reply-To Address boxes
- Outlook Express/Outlook: Tools -> Accounts (select mail tab) -> Double click on appropriate account -> Reply Address box

What if I need to change or delete my email alias?
Email email@oarfans.com to modify or discontinue you email alias. PLEASE PUT MODIFY OR DELETE IN THE SUBJECT FOR QUICKER RESPONSE TIME!
Can I have more than one email alias?
At this time, only one email alias can be assigned to each unique mailbox. Once automation is in place, this guideline may change.
Will you share my alias information with anyone?
The same guidelines applied to the message board apply to the rest of OARFans.com. We don not buy or sell personal information and will not share personal information unless legally compelled (so don't compel us!!)
